SANTACON: DON’T MAKE SANTA MESS YOU UP

Over the weekend, the Santas converged, ready to get their drink on. Santacon began in 1994 in San Francisco when a group of 30 Santa’s converged on downtown SF and caused a bit of Kris Kringle mayhem. That spontaneous coordination of Santa fun has progressed into an international phenomenon. Saturday, Santacon dropped in on NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The crowd descended on a Santa-infused pub crawl bringing chaos and fun in its wake. Did you happen to catch the red and white tide? If so, here’s a few pics to catch you up on the fun you missed.

We were in attendance on this one and it was truly an interesting array of creative holiday spirit. Locations were communicated either through traditional means (shouting) or through more digital means (Twitter). As this is a driving town, I was relieved to find that the flask-bearing crowd took the subway from location to location.
And who knew Santa had beef? In this shot, clowns show up to protest Santa’s progression through the streets. And yes, it rains in LA.

Here the singing Santas take over the subway. Yup, I didn’t know LA had one either…

Thursday’s fifth season opener of The Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo attracted 1.98 million A18-49 as well as 2.58 million total viewers, an increase of 44% and 38% respectively compared to the show’s season four premiere on November 25, 2008. (Cynopsis 11/9)
Seriously, why do y’all watch this show?
HBO has a 30m drama series, simply titled T in development involving the gender transition of a woman into a man. The project is from married team Anya Epstein and Dan Futterman who also recently agreed to a third season as showrunners on HBO’s In Treatment. For T, Epstein and Futterman will write the pilot and executive produce along with Ira Glass and Alissa Shipp. (Cynopsis 11/9)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM DAILY MARAUDER
Remember this cinematic classic? The Ring (and yes the American version) still goes down as one of my favorite Halloween films of all time. That’s why I was more than pleased to turn myself into Samara from the scariest portion of the film: the ending in which she climbs through the television.
Considering that I’ve been working in television for 4 years, there’s nothing scarier than a small child with really horrible hair extensions climbing through my tube. Girl, let me help you fix that weave! Now, I too can be Samara in yet another way to waste time on the internet. Yay!
Go grab your creepiest pic of you and head over to Seenow.com for some Halloween fun. And remember, don’t do what I do on Halloween and insist on eating every last candy corn pumpkin in the bag.

Twitter’s growth these days seems to be coming from abroad. ComScore data shows a 6.7 percent jump from August to September in worldwide vistors to 58.4 million (which translates to 949 percent increase from a year ago). The 20.9 million visitors from the U.S., in contrast, has remained flat since June. (Techcrunch10/26)

Sony said is partnering with Netflix to provide access to the online movie rental company’s library through Sony’s PlayStation 3 video game console. Well it’s about time. I mean, it’s sort of like arriving at the XBox party at the end when everyone has already paired off and only the somewhat sketchy people are left. OK, maybe a slight exaggeration but you know you hear me on this… Here’s the BIG difference between PS3 and XBox, PS3 users don’t have to pay an additional extra dime for Netflix content whereas XBox users must have the Gold level membership which costs $50/year.
So much for the first generation of big Facebook/MySpace social application startups. Slideand RockYouboth got huge valuations in venture rounds. But a new generation of application developers has taken center stage and are racking up big revenues and their own eye popping valuations: Zynga, Playfish and Playdom.
