With TV competitors such as Sony and Samsung making moves in the lower-priced segments of the market, Vizio announced that it would roll out a new line of high-end products this fall. The new Extreme Vizio Technology line of flat-panel LCD TVs includes what Vizio is calling “Smooth Motion Video,” a new motion-estimation and motion-compensation technology. (TWICE 7/21)

GOT WI-FI?: YOUR BUS DOES
This morning, I got an e-mail from a friend laying out the details of her enjoyable free wi-fi experience in transport. She’s on her way out of the city for some July 4th vacation fun and sent me this e-mail for inclusion in our next edition of Got Wi-Fi?
.
Dear Marauder,
I am thinking of you as I break free from the city and journey up to Boston this 4th of July weekend. Why am I thinking of you/ flaunting my vacation getaway, you ask? Well, I’ve discovered the best little way to travel in (sorta) style AND on the cheap.
.
While planning my escape from New York a friend recommended Bolt Bus.
.
Much like the Chinatown buses that many NYC-ers are familiar with, Bolt Bus is a standard 49-seater coach with luggage storage below and a WC on board.
.
BUT the kicker is that Bolt Bus offers free Wi-Fi and has power outlets at all of the seats.
.
So as we lumber up I-95, I can see my co-passengers working (eek), updating their
iTunes libraries, emailing or most importantly, keeping up with the celeb gossip blogs. This is a bus ride truly Marauder-stamp-of-approval-worthy.
.
While the bus itself is what most buses are, the service is a certain point of differentiation. Jackie, our driver is welcoming and funny, the bathroom is clean(!) and the prices are insanely low…$20 from NYC to Boston.
.
You can tell from their website that they cater to a different demographic.
Check out www.boltbus.com and tell me you don’t get a strong Virgin Atlantic vibe- v. hip, v. modern. Just like yours truly.
.
Kiss, kiss,
Miss Mary Joan
.
Wi-Fi Action
Mary says that her computer deemed her connection ‘Excellent’ and she had no problem logging onto her company’s secure website. For some reason, she had difficulty logging onto other basic sites including Google and Yahoo which took a couple times refreshing to get through.
.
Cost to Ride
$20: NYC to Boston
$20: NYC to Washington D.C.
$7 – $13: NYC to Philadelphia
.
Final Call
Free wi-fi, super low price and a friendly bus driver. What’s not to love? If you don’t feel like making the drive, give your hands something better to do and take the wi-fi bus.

DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT: THE DIGITAL DOWNTOWN EXPERIENCE
So, being that Father’s Day is coming up (this Sunday for those oblivious), I thought I would give you my favorite picks from Digital Downtown closing tomorrow at the World Financial Center in NYC. The only problem: some of these aren’t even released yet. No worries. Give dad an I.O.U.
For the Car/Audio Enthusiast
Designed in collaboration with Ferrari, this little speaker is by no means little in sound. Here’s the story as I heard it. The President of Ferrari owned and loved a set of Meridian speakers to the degree that he sought out a brand partnership in creating a new line with Meridian, the F80. This speaker pumps out 80 watts of power through two front-mounted speakers and one rear subwoofer. Now, I have no idea what watts translate to in sound but in hearing it live, I can tell you, it sounded pretty amazing. The speakers include a built-in DVD/CD player along with the prerequisite FM/AM radio, a connector for your iPod, and connections for almost any video display.
The back:
Available in (no surprise) classic Ferrari colors:
The cost:
$2995
Yup, you better really love dad on this one. I definitely think the price is over-bearing. Paying extra for a Ferrari logo seems like a waste of money. That said, I still must say, these speakers drowned out the rest of the noise at Digital Downtown while not submitting to sound loss and that’s saying something. If still interested, purchase here. Don’t worry. Given the wad you’re throwing down, dad won’t mind if it’s late.
For the Movie-Theatre-in-Your-Home-Lover
If you’re watching this…
…then you really want one of these.
This LCD projector produces a stunning 1080p picture with impeccable contrast and brightness. If dad is too lazy to venture out to the local teenager-infested movieplex, give him the theatre experience at home. With this, he definitely won’t know the difference. Unfortunately, the sex scenes will still be unbelievably awkward when watched with your dad, perhaps even more so at home.
Price
$3499
Release Date
July 7th 2008 (IOU time)
When released, you can purchase directly from Panasonic here or search out a dealer.
For the Audiophile in a Mid-Life Crisis
For the dad who wants to be young again, here are the headphones. Designed by Monster in coordination with Dr. Dre, I have NEVER in my life heard bass in a pair of headphones like the sound produced in these. And being a former radio/club DJ, I’ve heard quite a few headphones in my day. . .when I was actually cool. Your dad can blast Kanye as loud as he wants.
These look cool and sound even better.
Price
$399
Release Date
July/August 2008 (IOU time)
These three are all way cool but below is my tested and approved Father’s Day Gift. This one always wins and the best part, it can be delivered immediately.

New startup Infectious
wants to satisfy that urge that we all undoubtedly have to spice up our car a little. Make it unique. Express our personality. Etc. Founder Tim Roberts
, who was part of the founding Twitter team, says that your car is the most visible social product you own, but it is also the least expressive. (http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/05/22/infectious-to-bring-custom-car-art-to-the-masses 5/22)
Is it wrong that I love these? This sentiment holds especially for LA where everyone drives the prerequisite BMW or Audi. In the land of same same, this helps spice things up a bit. I’m not hatin’. I was that girl at one point. . . At least now if I’m every that girl again, I can rock some funky green sticker art.

ONLINE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: THE APPRENTICE PRANK
Many many years ago. . .OK, around 5. . .my co-worker David Thatcher asked me through the cubicle wall if I would participate in a prank on one of his friends. Hence, what you’re about to see. I played a very small part in the overall project but this prank is one of the most complex in its class. Note the brilliant British accent I now pull out whenever trying to frustrate and annoy my British boss.
I had forgotten about this completely until a fellow co-worker was telling me about his latest prank attempt and Apprentice prank memories came rushing back. Happy April Fool’s Day all!
Keep in mind. There are three videos if you want more after watching the first. They will all be listed under “Related Videos” on the right side of the screen.
