It may not be long before the troubled MGM studio is forced by its creditors to seek a buyer. That’s the word coming out of a Nov. 4 meeting between MGM CEO Stephen Cooper and the debt-hobbled film company’s 140-member creditor committee. According to one source with knowledge of the meeting, the creditor group turned thumbs down on a proposal by Cooper to convert the studio’s $3.7 billion debt into equity as part of a restructuring plan to keep the studio out of bankruptcy. Remember when Twitter was just a little pipsqueek, with less than 10 million monthly unique visitors to its site worldwide? That was back in February, 2009. Fast-forward to April, and Twitter’s U.S. visitors alone reached 17 million. Now comScore has released its worldwide numbers and it estimates Twitter’s global unique visitors in April, 2009 was a whopping 32 million, up from 19 million in March, 2009. YouTube, a site that was once notorious for pirated content and user-generated videos that were practically useless to brands, has made great strides in the last few years as it looks to appeal to its growing number of advertisers and content partners. Video sites Hulu and YouTube are said to be preparing an expansion in Britain. The future of the weekly city paper is the daily blog. In the midst of a competitive May Sweep, President Obama’s third press conference drew the least amount of total viewers Wednesday night at 8p. The live event on ten networks posted an 18.8 HH rating and was viewed by 28.8 million people in the US, cites Nielsen. President Obama’s first press conference on February 9 tallied 49.5 million viewers on eight networks and the second one on March 24 drew in 40.4 million viewers via 11 networks. Senator John McCain will get more television face time as he hosts a six-pack of classic war films during the Memorial Day movie marathon, War Heroes on AMC. Show business is booming business in Connecticut, as another television series moves its production operations to the state. NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution announced it renewed the syndicated version of Deal or No Deal for a second season which is sold in more than 85% of the US for next fall. To keep costs down, Endemol USA and production partner NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution will begin shooting the new season of Deal or No Deal this summer at the Sonalysts Studio in Waterford. Harking back to its heyday, ABC made a deal to bring back Who Wants to be a Millionaire? for a limited two-week stint this summer, in honor of the show’s 10th anniversary. Regis Philbin will also return as host for the 11-night run beginning August 9. The one-hour show will air Sunday-Thursday at 8p, ending on August 23. ABC saw interest in the game show revive based on the successful feature film Slumdog Millionaire which features the Indian version of the game show. (Cynopsis 4/23)

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, collectively, are becoming the face of NBC Universal‘s Oxygen cable network. “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” on May 26 will begin its fourth season on Oxygen, the network is developing a new show titled “Mr. and Mrs. Makeover” that the two will host, the pair are in talks with the network to star in a telepic and Spelling is set to produce content for Oxygen’s Web site based on her book “Mommyhood.” Variety (4/22)
