WIRELESS

One week after AT&T announced plans to do the same, Apple reportedly has started to sell iPhone 3G handsets without requiring a contract, according to an Internet report. But, unlike AT&T, Apple is said to be allowing unlimited orders and not requiring buyers to be existing AT&T customers. MediaPost Communications (3/29) , CRN/ChannelWeb (3/27)

Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz is linking mobile more closely with other business sectors. Three new mobile projects are being prepped for launch: a new mobile home page, an iPhone application and a Java-based smartphone app. Advertising Age (3/26)

NBC Universal cable network Bravo is ramping up the use of the mobile platform to give viewers an expanded relationship with shows such as its popular “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” according to Lisa Hsia, senior vice president of Bravo Digital Media. “We are trying to create buzz before, during and after a show airs and create a deeper experience to maximize the water-cooler effect,” she said. Nintendo is gearing up for the next iteration of its Nintendo DS handheld with the DSi set to hit U.S. stores in April. Nintendo has already sold 100 million DS consoles and has added a few features to the new version, including an online application store. New York Post (3/29)

In some ways, these are the best of times for video game makers: More people than ever, and more types of people, are playing on an unprecedented number of platforms. But, according to this report, these are also the worst of times because a growing number of free or low-cost games that can be found online may cut into sales of consoles, such as Sony‘s PlayStation and Microsoft‘s Xbox. This is one of Flatrate’s subway ads. They come in several flavors. This one is the West Village version fresh from the L train. Snarky? Perhaps. Dead on? Hell yes.

I’m keeping a look out for the Williamsburg hipster version…

ONLINE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: TWOUBLE WITH TWITTERS by Marauder

ONLINE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: TWOUBLE WITH TWITTERS

Many people ask me about Twitter and how they can use it.  Here’s a little known fact.  I actually don’t like Twitter.  Until I noticed its promotional power for pushing traffic to my web site, I thought it was one more social networking tool in an already crowded world.  This video is dead on.  There are a whole lot of people screaming at a wall on Twitter and only a few people listening.  But for those who want to listen, there is a wealth of information to be had; information which would better you and/or your business.

So get tweeting…but please don’t share intimate details of your sex life.  It’s creepy…  Oh yeah, and join the Daily Marauder twitter feed.

I love that the WSJ chose to use this photo of a balding old guy in their representation of those still using bunny ears to capture a signal.  Dear grandparents, just get digital cable already.
