Comedy Central launches a new sketch comedy series Important Things with Demetri Martin on February 11 at 1030p. Stand-up comedian, Martin is the creator, executive producer and star of the series combining stand-up comedy, sketches, animation, music and more to focus on one “important thing” each episode such as timing, chairs, power or safety. Who Do You Think You Are?, a new alternative series on NBC adapted from a British documentary series, takes celebrities on a personal journey to discover their family genealogy and stories. The series premieres April 20 at 8p and is from executive producer Lisa Kudrow and her production company Is or Isn’t Entertainment and the U.K.’s Wall to Wall productions. Celebrities who have signed on to date include Lisa Kudrow, Sarah Jessica Parker and Susan Sarandon and others will be announced in the near future. (Cynopsis 1/28)

ABC ordered three drama pilots from ABC Studios, reports THR: I, Claudia about a female lawyer who is determined to become the next U.S. president; John Scott Shepherd wrote the pilot script and is executive producing with Matt Gross. The next project is Inside the Box about an ambitious news producer and her associates set in Washington; Richard E. Robbins wrote the pilot and is executive producing with Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy) and Betsy Beers. The third yet-to-be-named project is based on the Argentinean drama Brothers & Detectives about a detective who finds out he has a genius 11-year old brother who can help him solve crimes; Daniel Cerone is the writer and executive producer. NBC heads to the future with a drama pilot called Day One from writer/producer Jesse Alexander (Heroes). The story centers on a small group of survivors bent on rebuilding a society following a catastrophic global disaster. Universal Media Studios will produce. (Cynopsis 1/28)

Verizon added a record 303,000 new FiOS TV subscribers during Q4, bringing its total subscriber base to 1.9 million. Verizon also added 282,000 FiOS Internet subs, up from 244,000 a year ago, and closed on its acquisition of Alltel, giving it a market-leading 80 million wireless customers. (Cynopsis 1/28)
