Sunday’s awards ceremony on NBC averaged 14.6 million viewers, the second-lowest TV audience since 1995. For the last telecast of the ceremony, in 2007, the audience was 20 million. Just watched the first episode from one of their 100 web sites and was entranced.  The personalities are so engaging that you forget the original character at some point.  Check it out here in refreshingly amazing quality video.

Moments after news got out that Yahoo’s next CEO will be Carol Bartz, the stock started dropping like a rock. Her selection is not inspiring confidence on Wall Street, where investors are scratching their heads as much as tech pundits in Silicon Valley. Facebook, which became the largest worldwide social network in mid 2008, is still playing catch up to MySpace in the U.S. They have 54.5 million monthly unique visitors, says Comscore, compared to nearly 76 million for MySpace. But Facebook’s growth rate in the U.S. averaged 3.8% per month over the last twelve months. MySpace’s U.S. growth rate is 0.8% per month. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, but unless things change a lot, Facebook will overtake MySpace to become the largest social network in the U.S. in…2010. Even the adult industry is experiencing shrinkage. The 2009 Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas is seeing an 18% drop in exhibitors. Apple’s share of the global smartphone market is likely to grow as high as 40% by 2013, a seismic shift that would unseat Nokia as the world’s No. 1 handset manufacturer, according to a report from Generator Research, a U.K. market-analysis firm. The study compared Apple’s model for its iPhone to its successful music-platform strategy for the iPod and iTunes Music Store and said Apple was well-positioned to develop its smartphone into a long-term high-growth business. cellular-news (U.K.) (1/12) , Digital Trends (1/12)

Apple will buy organic light emitting diode displays from South Korea’s LG Display that the iPhone maker will install on its handsets, iPods and computers, LG announced.
