Asus, the computer manufacturer best known for its lightweight, inexpensive Eee netbooks, has introduced the Eee Top 1602, a loaded version that features a 15.6-inch touch screen. The model also boasts Windows XP, 1GB of main memory, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a 160GB hard drive. Techworld (11/4)

Sony has launched a new audio CD format dubbed Blu-spec, which apparently allows users to burn discs with the Blu Laser Diode system without losing compatibility with existing CD drives. Sony expects to offer about 60 titles by Christmas time, but Blu-spec discs currently are only available in Japan. Pocket-lint.co.uk (11/5)
