Showtime has picked up the wildly popular series “Dexter” for two more blood-soaked seasons. The show, now in Season 3, averages 2.5 million viewers each week, which is a 16% increase from the show’s second season. Yahoo!/The Hollywood Reporter (10/22)

MSNBC may have a new star on its hands in Rachel Maddow, the liberal news-commentator-turned-TV-host. Since the launch of “The Rachel Maddow Show” on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m., the time slot has attracted an average of 1.7 million viewers, about double the number tuning in before Maddow’s arrival. A new study from ABI Research predicts that 20% of Americans with analog TVs will allow those sets to “go dark” after the switch to all-digital signals next February. The study went on to say that 10% will switch to either cable or satellite service and that 70% will use digital-to-analog converter boxes. Multichannel News (10/21)

HBO Canada began a multiplatform ad campaign Monday to raise awareness about its Oct. 30 launch on Astral Media‘s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment‘s Movie Central. The campaign — which includes TV, radio, out-of-home, online and print — is playing out across the country in cities such as Toronto, Halifax, Vancouver and Calgary.
