At least one research company says it believes Google‘s Android open-network software for cell phones will spur greater consumer interest in smartphones and encourage wireless carriers to push even further to create a standard mobile platform. In a new report, ABI Research said one benchmark of Google’s success would be recognition among operators and handset makers in the value of creating a common platform. InformationWeek (10/9)
