One if five U.S. phone households will rely on solely on their mobile phones for telecommunications by the end of 2008 as consumers look to eliminate superfluous expenses, according to a new study from Nielsen. U.S. “cord cutters” tend to have lower income levels, live in smaller households (1 or 2 residents) and tend to make the transition to living without a landline after a move or a job change.
