DAILY MARAUDER HIATUS: NO POSTS UNTIL OCTOBER 1ST
Daily Marauder will be on hiatus from Friday September 19th through Tuesday September 30th. Your Marauder will be riding from San Francisco to LA to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. To check in on her trials and tribulations along the way, click here or on the image above. Unfortunately, strapping a laptop to her back while riding wasn’t an option. I know, slacker for sure.

ONLINE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: SWEAR JAR
The above video deserves praise this week as the first broadband ad that has been awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Commercial for the first time during the 2008 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Swear Jar is a 60-second viral ad created by DDB Chicago and directed by David Shane through Hungry Man.
Just one thought on this though, is ‘douchebag’ really a swear word? If so, I have a potty mouth for sure. . .

After the spinoff of Time Warner Cable, about 25% of Time Warner’s total revenue picture will come from advertising sales, according to Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes. And the lion’s share of that, he said, will come from the strong performance of the Turner cable networks: “Ad growth at these nets has been very, very strong.” The Hollywood Reporter (9/17) , Home Media Magazine (9/17)
Comcast Chief Financial Officer Michael Angelakis said Wednesday that he was “very concerned about ripple effects” of the current Wall Street meltdown. But, he added, his company’s business model will help the country’s top cable provider ride out the storm: “We have a business model that has real resiliency. We have a defensive, resilient business that can take some body blows [from a weak economy]. We have a pretty rock-solid business.” The Hollywood Reporter (9/17) , OneTRAK (9/17)
Cablevision CEO James Dolan said that his company would be looking to tweak the distribution model of its recently acquired Sundance Channel. Just as Google is trying to deflect growing antitrust concerns (see previous post), its core search market share also keeps on growing. ComScore’s August search engine market share numbers came out today—via Citi analyst Mark Mahaney—and are reproduced above. Its share of U.S. search queries rose in August to 63 percent, from 61.9 percent in July. Looks like its march towards monopoly is back on track after a slight dip in June. Technology is worming its way into the race for the White House in a variety of ways this week. First a short-lived brouhaha erupted over the McCain’s campaign’s latest gaffe – an assertion from the senator’s top economic advisor that the former Commerce Committee member actually helped create the BlackBerry. Then former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, a senior McCain adviser once on the VP short list, answered “no” on KTRS Radio in St. Louis to the question of whether or not Sarah Palin had the experience to run a major company. Finally allegations that Ms. Palin is using her personal Yahoo email account to conduct state business proved to be too much of a temptation for hackers. Assailants posted a number of her personal emails on WikiLeaks and Gawker yesterday. So winds the campaign trail in the digital age. (Cynopsis 9/18)
