Medical comedy series “Scrubs” will join the regular weekday prime-time lineup of TV Land next Tuesday; but before that can happen, it will run in a marathon — a seven-hour programming stunt that begins on the network Monday at 4 p.m. Eastern time. Multichannel News (8/25)

Is there an overlap between readers of Wired and viewers of Dexter, the Showtime series about a serial killer? An upcoming ad campaign for the show will feature Dexter (aka actor Michael C. The high-definition version of ESPNU goes live Thursday with a college football matchup featuring Vanderbilt and Miami of Ohio. In its first year with HD technology, the college-sports network will use the 720p high-def format in more than 200 events covering a wide range of sports. Broadcasting & Cable (8/25)

ESPN and the Southeastern Conference college athletics association have made final the terms of a 15-year, multiplatform rights deal that, according to this report, is valued at about $2.25 billion. Following a similar deal with Comcast, the Big Ten Network has inked a new carriage agreement with Time Warner Cable that is expected to take effect before the league kicks off its 2008-09 season. Satellite provider Dish Network has announced that it is now transmitting its standard and high-def content via the enhanced MPEG-4 format in 21 markets. Shelfari, a social network for bibliophiles, has been acquired by Amazon for an undisclosed amount. Last March, Google began inviting a select number of publishers within its AdSense network to test a new hosted advertisement management tool called Google Ad Manager. Who is doing a better job of getting his message across on the Web: John McCain or Barack Obama? Conventional wisdom says that it is Obama, whose performance on the Web has been strong since the beginning. And conventional wisdom is still correct when it comes to blogs and social networks. But a new study by Attributor that is being released today shows that McCain is actually leading on mainstream news sites and catching up on blogs, especially as he and his supporters have been increasing their attacks on Obama. In a first for a Viacom-owned basic-cable network, Nickelodeon has signed a deal with Amazon.com that will allow the online retailer to duplicate and deliver a large selection of the network’s content through a DVD-on-demand platform. MTV Networks’ mtvU has formed a partnership with online-search firm Zvents to create a new fraternity of Web sites spotlighting events and other happenings at 25 colleges and universities. Steven Friedman, general manager of mtvU, said the sites, which launch today, would be “encyclopedic” in their coverage and also would have robust potential for national and local advertisers. The RIAA shut down Muxtape but that doesn’t mean its memory won’t linger on the hearts of those who must share their love of the Hold Steady with the world. Enter OpenTape, an open source package that essentially recreates the Muxtape experience on a personal level. You simply download the application, unpack it on your web server, and then upload songs. Building on the strategic partnership formed in March between Microsoft and Move Networks, the ubiquitous software giant will make an undisclosed investment in Web TV provider Move Networks. Images from around the web are showing the HTC Dream AKA the T-Mobile G1 in all its bendy, screen-sliding glory. This Sidekick-like phone has a pop up screen, full QWERTY keyboard, and none of the buckets of suck that characterize Windows Mobile phones. Despite a weak battery and questions about how fast it connects to 3G networks, some time in the next week more than 6 million iPhone 3Gs will be in people’s hands around the world. What that means is that the second generation device has outsold the original iPhone just seven weeks after going on sale. Movie focused social network Flixster acquired a popular iPhone application called Movies.app (iTunes link) last week, and has re-released the application this evening. Negotiations surrounding Electronic Arts‘ possibly acquiring Take-Two Interactive have gone behind closed doors. Citing a confidentiality agreement, the two video game manufacturers said in an SEC filing that they would hold their tongues publicly while a possible deal was being hammered out privately.
