Nintendo reportedly has filed a patent-infringement suit against Nyko, claiming its Kama Nunchuk controller violates Nintendo’s patented designs. Nintendo alleges the controller “wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller.” (GameDaily BIZ 6/13)
Sony Computer Entertainment is developing a new PlayStation 3 controller that mimics many of the motion-sensing abilities of Nintendo’s Wii and includes a “break apart” function in which the device can be split into two units, according to an Internet report. Sources say Sony has supplied prototypes to some developers, but there is no date set for its release. (GamesIndustry.biz (U.K.) 6/13)
