Here is the the next-generation OLPC. It will consist of dual touchscreens on a single spine and include keyboard, face-to-face, and ebook functionality. The touchscreens will be built by a start-up by former OLPC CTO Mary Lou Jepsen. These screens will be readable in direct sunlight, just like the OLPC. Philips Electronics is working on a TV that will enable viewers to have a 3-D experience without the need to wear 3-D goggles. “We say the market progression is black and white, to color, to high definition, to 3-D,” said Philips’ Bjorn Teuwsen, demonstrating the product. “We estimate in a few years these will be in homes.” (International Herald Tribune/Associated Press 5/20)

Sony is bringing its Rolly audio player to the U.S. market — it launched in Japan last fall. The egg-shaped audio player, available in black or white, contains 2GB of memory and features the ability to “dance” along as it plays music. (Pocket-lint.co.uk 5/20)
OK. Maybe I’m being negative today but I don’t get this one either. The Rolly is dubbed a “music entertainment player”, a device that dances around to music. If you invite a girl over, throw on some music on your Rolly, and let it dance around, I can confidently say. . .end of date.
Panasonic has unveiled a line of high-definition plasma televisions that allow viewers to access the Internet as well. The Web-ready Viera models offer 30,000:1 contrast ratios and 24p native reproduction, come in sizes ranging from 46 to 65 inches and are expected to retail for between $3,099 and $7,999.
