The Toshiba Qosmio G40 laptop will likely contain a chip similar to the one inside Sony’s PlayStation, according to reports. The SpursEngine SE1000 will be based on the Cell Broadband Engine — just as the PlayStation 3 is — a multicore chip architecture that can encode and decode MPEG-2 and H.264 streams in HD, among other advanced features.
