Apple has introduced its new, more powerful line of iMacs, which come equipped with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors in three basic configurations: two 20-inch models and a premium 24-inch, 2.8-GHz model that contains an option for a powerful graphics processor. Apple also said the iMacs had earned a “EPEAT Silver” from the Green Environmental Council — Gold is highest — which means they meet all 23 of the required criteria and at least half of the 28 optional ones. For audiophiles whose old albums have been collecting dust, Audio-Technica has introduced a USB turntable that can transfer vinyl records of various sizes to MP3, WAV or Windows Media files. The AT-LP2D comes equipped with software to convert the music and utilities to eliminate the pops and crackles from those old discs, according to the company. (Electronic House 4/28)

Archos is bringing navigation capabilities into the car by offering a car cradle for its 605 Wi-Fi portable media player. The company also is jumping into the TV place-shifting market with its Archos TV+ DVR. (TWICE 4/28)
