ONLINE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: MANI/PEDI TIME

Anjelah Johnson, a stand-up comedian from LA, burned up YouTube hits with this video about her mani/pedi experience at a nail salon.  This video has been viewed over 4 million times winning Anjelah a spot as cast mate on MadTV.

Frankly, any woman (or man), who has hooked it up with a pedicure will recognize elements of her experience.  She nails it.  I will never forget the time I went for a pedicure only to be harassed for an hour because my nail “specialist” claimed that I wouldn’t relax enough.  It’s like going to a family reunion where no one speaks your language.  Actually, no.  Scratch that.  I’m not harassed that often at family reunions. . .

New York’s Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department yesterday reversed a judgment made in May 2007 which allowed Comcast to position the NFL Network on a sports tier. Last year, Comcast won the right in court to move the NFL Network to a more expensive sports tier if it did not acquire rights to the out-of-market NFL Sunday Ticket pay-per-view package or an eight-game primetime package for Versus. Both primetime packages were given to the NFL Network by the NFL in January 2006. A statement released by an NFL spokesperson said “We are pleased that the lower court decision was reversed. We believe that today’s decision ultimately will lead to the restoration of NFL Network service to the millions of fans who received it before the Network was moved to an expensive sports tier.” Comcast’s current contract with the NFL Network expires April 2009.

At a public forum in Massachusetts on the topic of net neutrality, Martin said: “The question is: What are reasonable network practices? Networks may have legitimate network-management practices. Obviously network operators can take reasonable steps to manage traffic, but they cannot arbitrarily block access.” (CED Magazine 2/26)

AOL CEO Randy Falco spoke today at IAB’s annual conference, and echoed what the official and unofficial thinking within Time Warner is at this point: “I’m hoping the two of them will beat each other’s brains out over search and leave the display market to us,” he said. This is what Jeff Bewkes’ line of thinking is on Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo.  Also, he thinks the deal is a mistake, “But I think Napoleon said never interrupt your enemy when they’re in the middle of making a mistake.” (http://www.paidcontent.org/entry/419-aol-ceo-msft-yhoo-a-mistake-but-were-happy  2/26)

Just when everyone else is cutting CD floor space at retail, Apple’s digital media store edged out BestBuy and Target to become the second-largest U.S. music retailer, behind Wal-Mart, according to NPD data, reported by AP. This is by unit volume data, meaning the number of times people shop at a retailer…tough to compare digital piecemeal sales with physical packaged sales, but it makes a better headline. The comparison is based on a 12-track CD equivalency for song downloads. (http://www.paidcontent.org/entry/419-appels-itunes-second-biggest-music-retailer-in-us-by-volume  2/26)

Pakistan officials had requested that an anti-Muslim film clip from Dutch lawmaker/filmmaker Geert Wilders’ upcoming expose on the Koran to be removed from the local version of the site, for fear of it inciting violence. Pakistan Telecom implemented the government’s orders and blocked the clip, but an error in PTCL’s “black holing” procedure inadvertently replicated the blocking message across the internet worldwide.
