Hollywood‘s six major studios are now backing Blu-ray DVDs, paving the way for a consumer-awareness campaign and standardization of “extras,” says Georgia Tech digital-media expert Janet Murray. “This will lead to a much richer experience for viewers,” she said. The studios, including former exclusive backers of HD DVD Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, finally united in one camp after Toshiba announced it would drop HD DVD.
